Jared's Fund Youth Fellowship

Empowering Young People to Challenge Mental Health Stigma Through Paid Summer Fellowships

I"It's hard to put into words everything  I got out of the program. On a personal level I feel much more comfortable being open about my own mental illness which has really helped me with my relationships and self growth. Jared's Fund as a whole helped me understand that it wasn't a weakness I had.  I also made friendships with people not just in my own project, but with other fellows that I still talk to every single day."  Niamh Cahill JFYF 2020

What You Should Know

The Jared’s Fund Youth Fellowship (JFYF) provides paid fellowships to current Montclair High School students or recent alumni to work with a mental health-related non-profit or undertake a project of their own choosing during the summer of 2022. Created in close coordination with Montclair High School (MHS) and the Community Foundation of New Jersey, JFYF supported the inaugural set of fellows in the summer of 2019 and was deeply inspired by their work to challenge the stigma around mental illness in our community. In 2022, JFYF recognizes there will be special needs to address the mental health consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The JFYF will provide $2500 for individuals or for a group (to be equally shared by team members). The deadline for the application is April 29, 2022. Selected fellows will be announced the week of May 23, 2022. The summer program will commence on July 5, 2022 and run through August 12, 2022. If you are chosen as a recipient, you must be local for the six weeks of the program,

"Working with Jared's Fund has been an incredible experience that has taught me so much about the important ways to give back to my community and get involved with tackling the stigma surrounding mental health, as well as giving us [fellows] tools to self reflect and learn a lot about ourselves."

Marley Pradieu 2019 Jared's Fund Youth Fellow

"Jared's Fund empowered me to pursue my vision for a project, while simultaneously providing me with reliable partners in Ken, Jackie, and the other fellows. The speaker series opened my mind to ways of combatting mental health stigma."
Ari Westreich 2019 Jared's Fund Fellow and student at Wesleyan University
